The annual meeting of the USNA Parents Club of Greater
Charlotte, NC and SC was held at the home of Mike and Cindy
Adkins in Salisbury. We had the unexpected treat that Nick
Adkins was home so we all enjoyed talking with him. After
eating and enjoying fellowship with each other, the business
meeting was called to order by Lynn Bergman, President.
Lynn introduced Jean and Randy Veatch, parents of one of the
new Plebes for the Class of 2011.
The first order of business was the election of officers.
The new slate of officers is as follows:
President - Gail Elder White
Vice President - Briget Bordino
Secretary - Suzanne Mauney
Treasurer - Kathy Hesler
Plebe Coordinator - Consuelo Arroyo
Webmaster - Scott Moore
Publisher - Judy Moore
The officers were elected as presented.
Lynn urged member to get information to Judy for THE YARD
DOG TALES as soon as possible for distribution at Hail and
Farewell. The meeting was then turned over to Gail Elder
White.
Gail gave the Firstie Gifts out to the Firstie parents in
attendance and passed one around for all to see. The Club
gives a current year silver dollar and Ensign Bars to the
Mids who are being Commissioned.
The next order of business was to discuss the Hail and
Farewell. We do not have a place to have this function, so
discussion ensued regarding finding a venue. Several people
will be checking on sites and reporting to Gail. The Hail
and Farewell will be held on June 2'nd (June 9th
as an alternate date). We have at least 9 new Plebes and
that number could increase.
The next order of business was events for the upcoming
year.. After discussing the possibilities, The Air Force
Game on September 29 was chosen for the Club's annual
tailgate. David Martin has agreed to cook for us again this
year! (You know, you can't just quit Navy Football cold
turkey!) The Pre Plebe Parent Weekend Picnic will be August
4th at the White's.
