LT CDR (select) Ian
Johnston, USNA ‘96 (a P-3 pilot), has been
stationed in, over the past 10 years; Florida,
Texas, Washington State, Bahrain, Japan, Sicily, and
Naples, Italy. In 2004 Ian married Simona Nizarrri,
a native Sicilian woman with a doctorate in

Sicily was something out of a fairytale. They moved
from Sicily to Naples this summer, where Ian is the
P-3 expert on the European Plans and Operation Staff
which coordinates military operations for the 6th
Fleet, stretching from southern Africa to the
Baltics. They have a beautiful baby boy, Ferdinando

Garth Johnston |

01-31-06
LT Garth
Johnston, USNA ‘98, and his wife,
Konstance, have just moved from Groton, CT to
San Diego, CA. After Garth finished his
assignment as Flag Lt for the East Coast Sub
Commander (an Admiral) in May 2004, he was
appointed to the War College in Newport, RI. He
received his second Masters in June, then
reported back to Groton for Department Head
School until mid-November. Garth has just begun
his Department Head tour as the NAV (Navigator)
on the USS Helena, a fast attack submarine (his
previous sea tour was on the USS Maine, a boomer
out of Kings Bay, GA.) Konstance and the girls,
Charlotte (2) and Brianna (8 mos) moved in with
us at the end of October. We had a wonderful
three weeks with them before they flew out to
join Garth. Charlotte and Bodey (our Golden
Retriever puppy) had great fun getting into as
much trouble as they could; what a pair! Garth
drove cross country and Alec took his
Thanksgiving leave to help Konstance and the
girls manage the flights to San Diego. Alec
wanted to check things out before HIS move.

Alec Johnston |
|
 |
01-31-06
ENS Alec Johnston,
USNA ‘04, completed Nuclear Power School in
Charleston, SC and spent four months at sub school
in Groton, CT. Alec loved Charleston, but is truly
excited about moving to San Diego, where he will be
a JO (Junior Officer) aboard the USS Topeka, also a
fast attack sub. He will come home after sub school
just long enough to do his "home of record" move (he
bought a whole house full of furniture at NC prices,
and will make the Navy move it out west). After a
USNA friend's wedding in Augusta, GA he will fly to
San Diego, then on to Okinawa, where he will meet
his boat to cruise back to CA. We were very lucky
to have both boys assigned to San Diego. Alec will
be there for his nieces when their Dad is out to
sea, and Konstance will be there to keep an eye on
Alec’s place while he’s deployed (and his Corvette
will need to be driven, right, K?)

James
Lindler '02 |

7-10-2005
I
received this email from James Lindler’s dad
this past week. It’s always good to hear what
our recent grads are up to. For you new
families, James spoke at our “07 Plebe Picnic
two years ago. Last year during his tour in
Iraq, our Parent Club sent him numerous care
packages. Our prayers are with James and his
family.
Please let the folks know that James Lindler '02
redeployed to Iraq on 6 July 05. He will be there
hopefully till Feb06. He is the Weapons Company XO
for 2ndBat 2ndMarines and will be stationed at Camp Fallujah. He appreciated all the support from the
group last visit to the big sandbox. Please keep
him in your prayers.
